Privacy policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
Your game stays simple. So does our approach to your information.
Who we are
Codemers provides WhereTo and this website. This policy explains how information is handled when you play the game, visit this site, or contact us. For privacy questions, email codemers.dev@gmail.com.
Information on your device
WhereTo does not require an account. Game progress, completed daily results, language preferences, and reminder settings are stored locally on your device. Daily progress is kept for a rolling window of about 30 days; completed daily results and preferences remain until the app’s data is removed. Practice rounds are not saved as daily progress.
You can remove local app data by deleting the app and its data. Your device’s backup settings may retain copies in a backup managed by your platform provider.
App analytics
The iOS app uses TelemetryDeck to understand how the game is used and improve it. We send events when a puzzle is started, completed, or given up, along with the daily or practice mode, puzzle date, and number of guesses where applicable. These events do not contain your typed guesses, name, email address, or precise location.
The analytics SDK also includes technical information such as app and operating system versions, device type, timestamps, and a hashed identifier. TelemetryDeck describes its identifiers as anonymized and states that it does not store IP addresses. See TelemetryDeck’s privacy FAQ for its processing and retention practices. We do not use this information for advertising or cross-app tracking.
Reminders and sharing
Reminders are optional local notifications, scheduled on your device with your permission. You can turn them off in the app or your device settings. When you choose to share a result, your device sends the content to the app or recipient you select; that service’s own privacy policy applies.
This website
This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies, use browser storage, or include analytics scripts. It is hosted on Vercel, which may process IP addresses and technical request information to deliver and secure the site. See Vercel’s privacy notice.
When you email us
Support links open your email application. Nothing is sent until you send an email. If you contact us, we receive your email address and whatever information or attachments you include. We use this information to respond and resolve your request. Email is handled by our email provider, Google. Please avoid sending sensitive information that is not needed for support.
Use, sharing, and retention
We use information to operate and improve WhereTo, respond to requests, and keep the service secure. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Service providers process information needed to provide analytics, hosting, or email. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.
Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations. Hosting logs and analytics follow the relevant provider’s retention practices; we do not promise a fixed deletion period for anonymized analytics. Providers may process information outside your country.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of personal information, or to object to processing and complain to your local privacy authority. Email us to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. We cannot identify a person from anonymized analytics or access game data stored only on your device.
Children’s privacy
WhereTo does not ask children to provide personal information or create an account. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact us so we can address it and delete it where appropriate.
Changes
We may update this policy as the game or our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. We will provide additional notice of material changes where required.
